Grow It!

Grow It! By ChicoroI’ve been frustrated lately with the legnth of my hair.  I feel like its not growing!  I plan on starting or joining a grow out challenge in the next few weeks and get my hair on a serious hair growth routine.  Let me know if you are interested and we can post your routine and results on Curlista.  Anyhow, there is a new book available called Grow It: How To Grow Afro-Textured Hair to Maximum Lengths in the Shortest Time written by Chicoro.  I haven’t read the book myself but the reviews are good – saying that the book doesn’t push a particular product but focuses more on process.  As for the author Chicoro – she’s a member of the longhaircareforum and her long waist length hair is absolutely gorgeous.  Can’t wait to get my hair on this one.  Hopefully they’re selling it at Chapters.

Good to Great Hair

I mean seriously forget about having good hair – its all about having GREAT hair!  Mane man to the stars Robert Vetica has just launched a new book that will give professional hair techniques and tips to divas who aspire to having great looking hair cared for and styled at home.  The book just launched on Thursday, so I have yet to get my hands on this but when I do, I will let you know any interesting tips.  If you come across it, let me know what you think.  BTW – doesn’t Salma Hayek (the new Mrs Billionaire) sizzle on the front cover.  Love it!

FROM BARNES AND NOBLES:  Salma Hayek, Eva Longoria, Naomi Watts, Hillary Swank, Kyra Sedgwick, and Renée Zellweger: chances are that you don’t have the facial bone structure of those celebrity clients of Los Angeles–based hairstylist Robert Vetica, but don’t worry; it doesn’t matter. With the very detailed (and surprisingly simple) instructions contained in this book, you can master professional hairstyling techniques in your own home. The step-by-step photos illustrate style alternatives and help you perfect use of tools of the trade, such as blow dryers, curling irons, and hair clips. Before-and-after photographs demonstrate how different hairstyles can accent the positive aspects of your face shape; bone structure; type and texture of hair; age; and personal style.

FROM THE PUBLISHER:  Vetica preaches that professional techniques are not difficult; readers just need to know what to do and follow directions. In this ultimate hair styling book, he delivers to the reader all they need to know to create great hair at home or direct a professional stylist. He reveals insider secrets and techniques for recreating magazine and celebrity hairstyles, and how to adapt the look for the average reader’s tools and time constraints.

he book is divided into three parts; 1. hair treatment and care, 2. hair cutting and styling techniques and 3. how to find a look for your faces structure and personal  style. Even beginners will be able to style their hair like a pro while professional stylists can fine tune their skills with Vetica’s secrets and shortcuts. Step-by-step diagrams and photos illustrate different styles and how to work with tools of the trade such as curling irons, hair clips, and blow dryers. Before-and-after photos show readers the best hairstyles based on face shape, bone structure, type of hair, age, and personal style. Vetica peppers all of the techniques with his experience and insights gained from working with Hollywood’s top celebrities.
